Biography

Robert W. Goodloe was born on February 23, 1888 in Burleson, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Polytechnic College in 1912. He then went on to earn a Masters degree from Southern Methodist University in 1916, a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Yale in 1918, and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1929. Goodloe married Lola Calhoun on December 23, 1919. Two children were born to this union.

Robert W. Goodloe served as a chaplian during World War I and then began a brief career as a public school teacher and itenerant Methoidst minister in Oklahoma Conference of the Methodist piscopal Church, South. In 1921 he joined the faculty of the School of Theology at Southern Methodist university and remained there until his retorement in 1956.

Fowwing his retirement from SMU, Dr. Goodloe served spent three years as a missionary in the Philippines and then went on to teach briefly at Wesley Theologial Seminary in Washington, at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and at Centenary College in Shreveport Louisiana.

Robert W. Goodloe died on September 22, 1966 at his home in Dallas, TX.
