Biography

Virginia Ely was born in 1899. She was a native of Denton, Texas. She attended Texas Wesleyan College and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary simultaneously, graduating from both institutions at the end of the spring semester in 1937. She earned her masters in religious education from the seminary in May 1937 and then received her BA degree sin religious education from Texas Wesleyan the following month. In addition, Ms. Ely also held a master in library science from the Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman's University. Over the course of her life, Ms. Ely was the author of numerous publications. In addition, she served as book reviewer for the Dallas Times Herald and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She also served as the librarian at the U. S. Public Health Service Hospital in Fort Worth.

Virginia Ely passed away in 1984.
